Mounties Claim 1st Place at the Jackson Area Golf Invite Led by a Trio of Juniors

The Northwest Golf Team posted 313 for the second day in a row while beating out the host team, Lumen Christi, in the Jackson Area Golf Invitational to capture the title for the second year in a row.

The Mounties were led by a trio of juniors with Jake Brafford, Cody Rowe and Jarrett Osterberg who each finished in the top 6 individuals medals posting 75, 76 and 77 respectively.  Brafford placed 2nd while Rowe finished 3rd and Osterberg in a tie for 6th.  Sophomore, Liam Renaud completed the team score carding an 85.  Three more Mounties competed and each of them finished with an 89.  Sophomore, Sullivan Mohlman along with juniors, Javen Palmer and Mason Beecher.

“The guys posted 8 birdies and an eagle which was some great golf, but they also had a few too many above par holes to finish with a really low score,” said Coach Martha Cantlin. “We’ve been playing well lately, but we still have some work to do to get our score where it will need to be to qualify for the State Tournament on May 27th at out D-2 Regional”

The Mounties set to play in a pre-regional event on Monday at Island Hills and in one last varsity tournament on Thursday at Bedford Valley.
