Match #2 - Thursday, Dec 11th vs HastingsOur second match of the season brought the Saxons of Hastings HS to Jax 60 for an early season conference battle with our squads looking to keep the momentum going from last week’s wins over Marshall.The Girls did just that as we were able to come away with a dominant 30-0 victory to move to 2-0 on the season. Emily Cutler lead the way on games of 166 and 177 for a 343 series, followed by Casey Jahr 176, 154 (330).The Boys never could get anything going as we dropped the match by a score of 24-6 to even our record at 1-1. Jake Brafford led the scoring on games of 197 and 166 for a 363 series, followed by Bode Rush 178, 146 (324).Gabbie Keller led the way for the JV Girls with games of 110 and 155 for a 265 series.Next up is a home match vs Western on Tuesday. The varsity girls basketball team kicked off the 2025–26 campaign with a convincing victory over Stockbridge on Tuesday night. The Mounties jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the first quarter, fueled by an intense defensive effort. Northwest was able to stretch the lead to 30-8 at the break. Stockbridge responded coming out of halftime and attempted to battle back, but the Mounties were able to put away the Panthers with a 51-33 victory. Shannon Christner led Northwest with a solid all around game. She scored a game high 14 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and took two charges. Audra Jewell was a force inside netting 12 points for the Mounties. Hadley Speer scored 7, Mia Zuniga 5 and Serenity Pulley 4. Emersyn Carroll and Josie Weed helped contain the Panthers guards, while Malena Herrera and Willa Bartlett helped lock down the post. The Junior Varsity girls basketball team opened their season with a big win over Stockbridge 35-28. Leading the way for the Mounties was Brenna Dietzel with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Elliot LePeak added 8 points, Rileigh McKnight 5 points, and Jixxer Henderson connected on 4 points. The Mounties will head on the road to Harper Creek Friday at 4:00.

The 7th Grade Boys B Team hit the road on Monday, December 8th, traveling to Battle Creek Pennfield and returning home with a dominant 39–14 victory over the Panthers.The Mounties wasted no time taking control, racing out to a 13–0 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 19–2 advantage into halftime. Their strong play continued after the break, outscoring Pennfield 9–5 in the third quarter before closing out the win with steady team play on both ends of the floor.Adam Casanova led the Mounties’ balanced scoring attack with 11 points. Kendall Hunt added 6 points, while Carter Bynum, Hunter McClintic, and Ryder Peterson each chipped in 4. Landon Hargan and Zaiden Surberg contributed 3 points apiece, and Charlie Patterson rounded out the scoring with 2 points.The victory improves the Mounties’ season record to 5–3. They return to action next Monday, December 15, when they host Lumen Christi at 4 p.m.

8th Grade B Team ResultsThe Northwest 8th Grade B Team Mounties put on a spectacular show in their final home game last night, starting off red-hot with tough defense and transition scoring to build an incredible 18-0 lead by the end of the first quarter! The Mounties' team defense was amazing all night, denying every pass and contesting every shot. Nolan Sadjak was the Defensive Enforcer, causing havoc with his relentless effort, tallying 5 steals and numerous deflections! Offensively, the Mounties moved the ball exceptionally well, resulting in 9 different players scoring and an efficient 4-for-8 shooting performance from behind the arc. Aiden Mohlman led all scorers with 13 points, with fellow floor general Jasper Roggow (3 points) expertly dismantling Pennfield's zone with precise passing and decision-making. 7th Grade A Team WINSThe 7th grade boys A basketball team won their fifth game of the season Wednesday night by the score of 42-30. The Mounties started fast and finished strong playing good pressure defense on the guards, limiting Western scoring opportunities and leading to quality scoring chances on the offensive end. Coaches award goes to the entire team Artie, Tyler, Isaac, Liam, EJ, Colton, Tripp, Blake, Jace, Grant and Wyatt for their tenacious defense and ability to handle the small but very loud gym. The 8th grade A Mountie boys hosted the Panthers of Parma Wednesday night in front of a large, energetic crowd. The teams battled back and forth most of the night, but could but the Mounties could not overcome a hot shooting 3rd quarter by their opponents, falling 44-56. Northwest was led offensively by Darius Caldwell with 18 points. Beats Heard had 6 points, Logan Lowder 5 points, Declan McKnight 4 points, Chase Remynse, Jack Runkel and William Hutt each scored 3 points and Luke Little finished with 2 points. The Mounties are back in action Monday as they host Battle Creek Pennfield. Match #1 - Dec 2nd vs MarshallFor the first time since joining the I-8, our conference schedule got underway in the month of December as we took on the Marshall Red Hawks on Tuesday, Dec 2nd at Jax 60. Both Varsity squads came away with victories, but in very different ways.The Girls cruised to a 20-10 win over the defending conference champs by sweeping all 20 points in the team games and locking up the match before going to the Baker games. This was a perfect scenario in our first match, not only for getting a win, but it also allowed us to get all seven girls some experience in the Bakers. Avery Sitko led the scoring on games of 195 and 179 for a 374 series, followed by Casey Jahr 150, 186 (336) and Julia Jacobs 149, 162 (311).The Boys side wasn’t so easy as the match went down to the final couple of frames before being decided. The Mounties traveled to Battle Creek on Monday night to take on the Panthers of Pennfield. The cold weather outside couldn't cool the hot shooting of the Mounties who connecting on 9 three pointers on the night and earned a 53-31 victory. Leading the way for Northwest was Jake Brautigam who poured in a season high 20 points, hitting his first three shots from deep. Beats Heard connected for 8 points on the night. Logan Lowder, William Hutt, Caleb Roark and Declan McKnight controlled the paint for the Mounties finishing with 5, 4, 4 and 2 points. Jack Runkel and Scott Crowley both nailed three pointers from deep. Chase Remynse and Darius Caldwell controlled the tempo of the game finishing with 2 points each. The 8th grade A Mountie boys traveled to Hastings Monday night to battle a very tall Saxon team. With swarming defense and relentless effort on the boards, the Mounties came away with a 42-33 victory. Down 16-20 at the half, Northwest amped up the defensive pressure to start the third quarter with a 10-0 run! Jake Brautigam led the charge for the Mounties scoring 8 consecutive points with great defensive pressure converting into easy layups. Jake finished the game with 16 points to lead the Mounties. Darious Caldwell controlled the offense for the Mounties and finished with 12 points. Logan Lowder battled for 6 points, William Hutt 5 points, Declan McKnight had 2 points and Chase Remynse finished with 1 point. Northwest is off until after Thanksgiving when travel to Pennfield to take on the Panthers. The win brings the Mounties to 2-5 on the season.
