Northwest Golfers Finish 4th at The Medalist G.C. on Friday
The Northwest Golfers competed in a field of 18 team at The Medalist on Friday, 5/9, playing in the Matthew Krutsch Memorial Invitational finishing in a tie for 4th with a team score of 339. It was a day where elevated scores were the norm for all the teams including the winning team, Lumen Christi who finished at 325.
The Mounties were led by 4th place individual medal winner, Cody Rowe with 77. Juniors Jake Brafford and Jarrett Osterberg posted 82 and 88 respectively while sophomores, Liam Renaud and Sullivan Mohlman finished with 92 and 93.
“The course was extremely tight and very challenging inviting many additional penalty strokes. This was by far the most difficult layout we have played this season, and the greens also were challenging after having played faster greens all week,” said Coach, Martha Cantlin. “The boys, other than Cody, had never seen this course which was another major factor in our elevated scores.”
The entire team will celebrate our seniors on Monday playing a scramble at Hankerd Hills at 3:30. The varsity will compete on Wednesday in the Interstate-8 Conference Tournament at Cedar Creek and on Thursday in the Jackson County Invite at Cascades.
