Golfers Tie for 1st on Record Setting Day Led by Jake Brafford’s 66
The Northwest Golfers competed in a field of 15 teams in the Battle Creek Lakeview Invitational Monday finishing tied for first place posting a NWHS record 297, breaking the previous mark of 301 set in 2000.
The Mounties were led junior, Jake Brafford, who fired a individual school record of 6 under par 66 besting the previous record of 69 set in 1985 by Tom Stevens. Junior Cody Rowe tied for 7th individually with a 2 over par 74. Junior, Jarrett Osterberg and sophomore, Sullivan Mohlman posted 78 and 79 respectively a personal best for each of them. Also carding his personal best was junior, Mason Beecher with an 84.
“Jake started sizzling hot with 5 birdies in his first ten holes and then played very good golf to finish with 7 total birdies on his card and only one bogey,” said Coach, Martha Cantlin. “We have seen this kind of potential with Jake since his freshman year, but today he really lit it up! Just as exciting was having all the guys play so well that we put together the best score in school history too. A great day to be a Mountie for sure!”
The Mounties tee it up again on Wednesday at Calderone and Friday at The Medalist.
