A clean sweep vs. Marshall!

All three squads made a road trip to University Lanes in Albion on Tuesday for a conference battle against the Redhawks and all three came home with a W.

We are starting off with the JV squad today because they absolutely tore the lanes up, posting some of their highest scores of the season on the way to a 29-1 victory. The fireworks started in game one  with a big 682 team game with Kiyah Adkins (166) and Olivia Samons (160) leading the way. Overall, Olivia was the top scorer with games of 160 and 129 for a 289 series, followed by Kiyah 166, 109 (275), Gabbie Keller 130, 104 (234), Gavin Warren 116, 108 (224) and Jaleya Johnson 110, 105 (215).

Varsity Boys kept rolling along, posting a 25-5 win which pushes our record to 5-1 (4-1 conf). We grabbed an early lead, taking 7 points in game one. Things got a little dicey in game two before a tenth frame surge allowed us to grab 6 points, forcing us to win one Baker game to secure the match. We took care of business in the first Baker to take the win. Jake Brafford led the way on games of 183 and 224 for a 407 series, followed by DJ Slawinski 181, 156 (337) and Bode Rush 147, 167 (314).

The Girls had to work a little harder for the win. Just like the Boys, we took 7 points in game one and just like the Boys again, things got dicey in game two. We jumped off to an early lead, but we let the Marshall girls hang around and a late push allowed the Redhawks to grab 7 points for themselves. We headed to the Bakers needing to win one of the games and total pins to secure the match. Following the Boy’s lead, we basically took care of it all in game one by throwing a huge 220 game and leading totals by 56 pins. This allowed us to just stay close in game two to take the victory, pushing our record to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Once again, Casey Jahr was the high scorer with games of 151 and 185 for a 336 series, followed by Avery Sitko 148, 156 (304). Emily Cutler 138, 132 and Ariana Wenman 145, 125 both shot a 270 series.

Next up is another conference match on Thursday at home against Pennfield.
