The 8th grade A Mountie boys hosted the Panthers of Parma Wednesday night in front of a large, energetic crowd. The teams battled back and forth most of the night, but could but the Mounties could not overcome a hot shooting 3rd quarter by their opponents, falling 44-56.
The Northwest 8th Grade B Team Mounties (6-3) hosted the very good and scrappy Parma-Western Panthers last night, falling with a final score of 32-21. Despite the loss, the Mounties showed huge improvement from their first meeting with Parma-Western, where they lost by 26 points—a true testament to their dedication and growth. The Mounties played with a lot of heart and energy right from the start. In the first half, Northwest's shooting struggled, but their intense defense kept them in the game, limiting the deficit to just two points at halftime. The third quarter proved to be the turning point, however, as the Panthers' aggressive full-court press was too much for the Mounties to handle, allowing Parma-Western to go on a critical 10-0 run to start the half. Showing their no-quit attitude, the Mounties bounced back fiercely in the fourth quarter. Their defense locked down once again, holding the Panthers to just 2 points in the final frame. Unfortunately, the offensive struggles continued as the Mounties couldn't get the ball to go in the hoop. Overall, the Mounties displayed a ton of heart, mental toughness, showed significant improvement, and proved that when adversity hits them in the face, they will fight through it and won’t give up till the final whistle. I absolutely love the growth, so far, this year. The Mounties were led by Aiden Mohlman with 8 points. Key contributions also came from Taten Thibault (4 points), Jasper Roggow (3 points), and Nolan Sadjak (3 points). Jozier Clark added 2 points, and Jayden Harner chipped in 1 point. The Mounties last home game of the season is this Monday against Pennfield at 4 PM, come out and cheer our boys on! Go Mounties!
