Match #1 - Dec 2nd vs Marshall

For the first time since joining the I-8, our conference schedule got underway in the month of December as we took on the Marshall Red Hawks on Tuesday, Dec 2nd at Jax 60. Both Varsity squads came away with victories, but in very different ways.

The Girls cruised to a 20-10 win over the defending conference champs by sweeping all 20 points in the team games and locking up the match before going to the Baker games. This was a perfect scenario in our first match, not only for getting a win, but it also allowed us to get all seven girls some experience in the Bakers. Avery Sitko led the scoring on games of 195 and 179 for a 374 series, followed by Casey Jahr 150, 186 (336) and Julia Jacobs 149, 162 (311).

The Boys side wasn’t so easy as the match went down to the final couple of frames before being decided. We started off slow, losing 8 of the 9 points in game 1, before storming back to take an 11-9 lead heading into the Bakers. A close win in the first Baker put us in position to win the match by securing game two or lose the game by 10 pins or less. We trailed most of the game after a few early opens, but clutch marks by Bode Rush and Jake Brafford in the 9th and 10th frames put us ahead and clinched the victory. Jake was high scorer on the day with games of 169 and 219 for a 388 series, followed by Bode 183, 198 (381) and DJ Slawinski 154, 180 (334). Lucas Ratell also chipped in a 203 game.

Overall, it was a great day, but still much work to do as we head back to practice before our match next week. Go Mounties!
